Building a unique E-commerce platform for pet owners

Bazar Pupila, an emerging E-commerce business, set out to build a platform that catered to both pets and their owners. They selected Shopware 6 for its flexibility, enabling the creation of a distinct and user-friendly design. Our team led the implementation, concentrating on UX/UI customization and optimizing ad campaigns to effectively connect with their target audience.

Challenges of the project

As a start-up in the E-commerce sector, Bazar Pupila needed to develop a platform catering to pets and their owners. The decision to use Shopware 6 was essential due to its flexibility and advanced features, enabling the creation of a distinctive and user-friendly interface. The Salestube powered by hmmh team took charge of the platform’s implementation, providing ongoing maintenance and optimization support. Our focus was on tailoring the UX and UI to enhance navigation and simplify the shopping experience, which in turn boosted profitability and underscored the platform’s unique value. Additionally, we optimized ad campaigns and employed advanced analytics for product feed management, which was critical in reaching targeted customers and positioning the platform effectively in a competitive market.

Process automation in
the early stages

In the project’s initial phase, the client’s primary goal was to develop a stable and cost-effective platform to facilitate Allegro sales and automate data exchange with the Optima ERP system. During the Discovery Phase, the solution we identified involved integrating Shopware 6 with the Baselinker platform, utilizing a custom plug-in created by our team. This integration enabled:

  • Automated parcel dispatch through various courier services,
  • Efficient management of Allegro auctions,
  • Automatic invoice dispatch,
  • Real-time stock level updates.

The Discovery Phase was crucial in defining the client’s business goals and platform performance priorities. Through collaborative workshops, we and the client determined that Shopware 6 was the best technological choice. This decision has provided Bazar Pupila with a scalable, flexible platform, perfectly positioned for future growth and brand development.

Data analysis and UX refinement

After the launch of the shop, our focus shifted to continuous monitoring of campaign performance and in-depth analysis of competitor activities. With the flexibility of Shopware 6, we were able to identify critical areas for improvement and quickly implement changes. This allowed us to optimize the platform’s customization to better align with user expectations. 

We concentrated on refining key components such as category pages, product pages, the shopping cart, and the checkout process. Shopware’s advanced customization options enabled us to seamlessly integrate these UX enhancements with our ongoing marketing efforts, steadily boosting sales performance and overall user satisfaction.

Performance optimization

Facing challenges related to declining mobile user engagement and low ROAS, we prioritized optimizing the mobile version of the site. Our efforts centered on enhancing the loading speed and responsiveness of the platform by employing techniques like image compression and lazy loading (delayed loading of certain elements). Additionally, we streamlined the DOM tree by reducing the number of nodes, which helped accelerate page loading without hindering rendering.

A crucial tool in this optimization process was our proprietary Shopware 6 plugin, Imagify. This plugin was specifically designed to optimize media and thumbnails using the Imagify platform. By significantly reducing the size of JPEG and PNG media files, we achieved faster page loading times. These enhancements, combined with an improved user interface, were aimed at not only boosting conversion rates but also enhancing the overall experience for mobile users.

Checkout process optimization

Improving the checkout process was a major focus of our UX and UI enhancements on the Bazar Pupila platform. Using Shopware 6’s flexible checkout settings, we streamlined the steps needed to complete a purchase, which significantly increased conversion rates and reduced cart abandonment. 

Shopware’s extensive customization options allowed us to create a more intuitive process, simplifying the selection of payment and delivery methods. We added clear messaging about available options and estimated delivery times, helping customers make confident choices.

To enhance trust during the checkout process, we leveraged Shopware’s features to emphasize transaction security and safety, providing customers with a sense of reassurance. By continuously refining these elements and monitoring user feedback, we were able to create a checkout experience that is not only efficient but also user-friendly, contributing to the overall success of the platform.

Results of the project

The efforts detailed above resulted in a significant increase in sales on the Bazar Pupila platform. Conversion rates improved by 88.7% across the entire website following comprehensive CRO optimization, while homepage conversions saw an impressive 371.3% increase after enhancements in speed, loading times, and CRO strategies. We also observed a marked reduction in abandoned shopping carts and incomplete sessions. Page loading times were significantly faster, as confirmed by Google’s PageSpeed Insights tool. Additionally, user engagement metrics showed considerable improvement, such as time spent on the site and bounce rate. The company’s strategy is centered on sustaining this growth through ongoing analysis and optimization, ensuring continued success and positioning Bazar Pupila for further expansion.
