An online art gallery with an AI visualiser and worldwide sales for Streetpatriots

Streetpatriots is a gallery that represents artists and sells their work to customers in Poland and abroad. The online store had to be more than a catalogue of paintings. It had to carry the character of the gallery and its artists, and at the same time solve the biggest barrier in selling art online: the customer’s uncertainty about how a piece will look in their own interior. We built a Shopify platform that combines bespoke design, an AI visualiser and international sales in multiple currencies.

Project goals

The main task was to build a store that sells art as effectively as a physical gallery does. We focused on solutions that build confidence in the purchase and make the decision easier:

  • A custom Shopify theme carrying the mood of the gallery and its artists, instead of an off-the-shelf theme that would look like every other store.
  • A coherent visual identity built on the artwork, logotypes and aesthetics of the artists themselves.
  • A shorter path from inspiration to purchase. The customer should see the painting at home before buying it.
  • Sales across multiple markets, in local currencies, with clear worldwide shipping rules.
  • Smooth management of content, photography and the catalogue by the gallery team.

Strategy and approach

We started from the business question rather than a feature list: what stops someone from buying a painting worth several thousand zlotys online? The answer was clear. Not being able to see the piece in person, and the fear that it will not fit the interior.

Following the business-first principle, every solution had to answer that barrier. The bespoke design creates the feeling of visiting a real gallery. The AI visualiser lets customers “try on” a painting against their own wall. Transparent shipping and local currencies remove the uncertainty around international orders.

We worked closely with the gallery’s artists. Together we chose the artwork, motifs and identity elements that went into the theme, so that the store became an extension of their work rather than a neutral product display.

Challenges and our solutions

Art is a product where every detail counts. Standard Shopify themes could not carry the character of the gallery, so we designed and coded the theme from scratch, enriched with custom animations that guide customers through the collections and give the site momentum without costing performance.

The second challenge was presenting the work. We prepared the photography and artwork visualisations with AI, which gave the whole catalogue consistent, high-quality material and cut the time needed to publish new pieces.

The third area was logistics. The gallery ships large formats, up to 2 × 2 m, all over the world. We designed advanced shipping zones and rules, including separate options for the UK and the European Union, with clear communication of costs, duties and taxes per market.

The AI visualiser

The visualiser is the heart of the project and a direct answer to the biggest purchase barrier. The customer uploads a photo of their interior and gets suggestions of paintings from the gallery’s collection, hung on their own wall.

The buying decision stops being guesswork. The customer sees the scale, the colours and the character of the piece in the context of their own space. The gallery gains a tool that supports the sale of higher-priced work, reduces the risk of returns on large-format paintings and engages customers who are still looking for inspiration.

What we implemented

We chose a toolset that combines a one-of-a-kind image with the ability to sell across several markets:

  • Shopify with a custom theme: a stable, scalable SaaS platform with a fully bespoke front end that carries the mood of the gallery and its artists.
  • Custom animations: designed around the character of the brand, they strengthen the experience of browsing the collections and set the store apart from typical online galleries.
  • The AI visualiser: lets customers see selected pieces in their own interior based on an uploaded photo.
  • AI-assisted photo and visualisation work: consistent, high-quality product material produced faster than a classic photo shoot.
  • Shopify Markets (multi-market and multi-currency): local currencies and prices per market, including separate GBP handling for the UK.
  • Advanced shipping configuration: delivery zones for Poland, the EU, the UK and the rest of the world, matched to large-format shipments.
  • The “Journal” blog: room for storytelling about the artists and interior inspiration, supporting SEO and building relationships with collectors.

Project results

The platform carries the character of the gallery and its artists, and at the same time removes the biggest barriers in selling art online. The AI visualiser lets customers decide with more confidence, and transparent currency and shipping handling opened the gallery to customers worldwide.
