Challenges of the project
Re-platforming for Animonda’s E-commerce site came with several challenges. One major task was creating a user-friendly system for viewing and selecting product variants directly from the listings. This meant reimagining how products were displayed and designing a navigation system that was both intuitive and easy to use.
Another challenge was integrating various international payment systems. We needed to ensure smooth transactions across multiple currencies and payment methods, which demanded careful planning and innovative solutions to provide a seamless checkout experience.
Maintaining real-time inventory updates and providing accurate product availability information was also crucial. This involved developing custom integration modules and close collaboration with payment providers. Our goal was to provide a smooth and efficient shopping experience for Animonda’s customers.
Our strategy
To tackle the re-platforming project for Animonda, we formed a skilled Polish-German team and leveraged Shopware 6 to build a modern E-commerce platform. The decision to use Shopware 6 was driven by its powerful and flexible architecture, which allowed us to develop a mobile-first, user-centric design while seamlessly integrating advanced functionalities. Shopware 6’s modular system enabled us to quickly implement custom solutions
The implementation of Shopware was straightforward, although it required additional time due to the complexity of integrating multiple international payment systems and ensuring real-time inventory synchronization. Shopware’s robust API and easy-to-use backend simplified these processes, allowing us to create a cohesive and efficient system. We also utilized Shopware’s advanced categorization and filtering features to enhance product discovery and comparison, addressing a critical need for Animonda’s diverse product catalog.
By leveraging Shopware’s flexibility, we were able to incorporate custom variant displays and real-time inventory synchronization seamlessly. Additionally, we conducted UX and UI improvements guided by prototype studies with our target audience, ensuring that the platform met the high expectations of Animonda’s customers. This strategic use of Shopware’s core functionalities allowed us to deliver a tailored solution that not only improved usability but also positioned Animonda as a leader in the pet products market.
Integrations and functionalities
Our project focused on one standout functionality – the custom product display, which allowed customers to select variants and add them to their cart directly from the product list. This made the shopping process more efficient and straightforward. We also utilized Shopware’s advanced categorization and filtering features to help customers easily find and compare products from various manufacturers.
A significant part of the project involved integrating multiple international payment systems and thankfully Shopware’s integration capabilities enabled smooth transactions across different currencies and methods. This ensured that customers could complete transactions smoothly, regardless of their currency or payment method. We also developed custom integration modules to address any previous issues with payment systems, providing a seamless checkout experience.
To further enhance user engagement, a horizontal auction mode was added, offering a dynamic shopping option. Real-time inventory synchronization was also implemented, providing customers with up-to-date information on product availability. Post-launch, the site is continually monitored and updated to meet evolving customer expectations.
Results of the project
The re-platforming of Animonda’s E-commerce site successfully transformed the online shopping experience for pet owners. By leveraging Shopware 6, we created a modern, user-friendly platform that significantly improved navigation, product discovery, and checkout processes. Custom product displays and enhanced filtering options made browsing more intuitive, reducing the bounce rate and increasing time spent on site.
The seamless integration of international payment systems facilitated smoother transactions, which led to a decrease in cart abandonment rates. Real-time inventory synchronization provided customers with accurate product availability, contributing to an increase in overall customer satisfaction. These improvements have not only solidified Animonda’s position in the pet products market but also set the foundation for future growth, as evidenced by higher engagement rates and improved conversion metrics since the launch.
